Peregrine Falcon
The Peregrine falcon is an ENDANGERED SPECIES here in Acadia. "Congress passed the Endangered Species Act in 1973, mandating all federal agencies to protect endangered species and their habitats. In the 1980's, Acadia National Park participated in a cooperative management plan to restore a self-sustaining population of peregrines to the eastern United States", says the National Park Website. The peregrine falcon was in Mount Desert Island in 1936. They now side in Acadia on the cliffs of their beautiful land features.
They hunt during dawn and dusk in open areas like shores, marshes, and valleys. They mainly nest on cliffs,bridges and tall city bridges. They migrate during the fall and winter and return back in the spring months. They begin to nest in mid April and May. Help us conserve the Peregrine Falcons we want these beautiful birds in Acadia for forever.

Hemlock Woody Adelgid
The hemlock woody adgelid is an INVASIVE SPECIES of Acadia. They target the hemlock trees of Acadia. The woody adgelid is a small aphid like insect that is covered with a white wool like covering. These insects kill the Hemlock trees. Lets keep an eye out for these dangerous critters.
